At The Violet Hour-Bells Event

AIU had the honor of hosting Ms. Kate Daudy for a special session titled "At the Violet Hour." The event, known as The Bell Event, was a remarkable gathering that brought together students, faculty, and distinguished guests. Ms. Daudy's visit was marked by insightful discussions and engaging activities that left a lasting impression on all attendees. This particular installation is called ‘All You Had to Do Was Stay’ which is part of Daudy’s exhibition, entitled ‘Wonderchaos’ (2021). The installation comprises bells hanging from palm trees on the University’s grounds (outside buildings A and B) using strings. As can be seen in the photographs, some of these bells are engraved while others are not. According to Daudy’s website, “the constant rotation and movement of the air, the earth and the planets in different directions emits a ‘sweet harmonious music.” Her work serves as “an exploration of disorder through music.”
