dc.descriptionThe architecture in the Baroque period showcased its focus on grandeur and awe. St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, designed by architects such as Michelangelo and Bernini, showcases monumental scale and dynamic forms. The use of lines that are curved and dramatic lighting within the Basilica creates an immersive, almost theatrical experience for people who are looking at it. To reflect this architectural influence, my artwork features bold, sweeping lines and intricate patterns that evoke a sense of movement and divine majesty. When working with both acrylic paints and markers, it’s a great idea to use mixed media sheets. You can experiment with different textures and approaches using it because they are made to handle a range of materials. You may capitalize on each material’s unique qualities by combining them on a mixed media surface: markers' accuracy, vibrant color, and acrylics' adaptability and texture. It produces a dynamic, captivating composition that highlights both the artwork's striking and intricate details. In conclusion, the Baroque period’s influence on art, science, religion, and architecture is undeniable. Its dramatic expressions of faith and divine creation continue to inspire artists today. My artwork, informed by Baroque principles and religious themes, looks to capture the era’s spirit of spiritual reflection. I aimed to create a piece that honors the legacy of Baroque art while offering a personal interpretation of divine creation. Comparing Baroque and Islamic artistic traditions reveals that while their visual expressions differ, both styles strive to connect viewers to the divine through beauty and symbolism.
dc.description.abstractThis artwork was created as a part of the AIU Divine Creation competition 2025, by Amna A Y R Al Rashid, who is majoring in Interior Design. The artwork is entitled "Harvest Grace", an A3 sized Mixed mixed-media composition inspired by Baroque Art.
