Abstract
This painting was created as part of the AIU Divine Creation competition 2025, by Bader W M Y M Alqaisi, who is majoring in Interior Design. The artwork is entitled "The Virgin" and was made on an A3, inspired by the Assumption of the Virgin, painted by Guido Reni.
Description
The artwork that I did was inspired by Assumption of the Virgin, painted by Guido Reni. Assumption of the Virgin is a 1637 oil on canvas painting. Now it is in the museum of ‘Fine Arts of Lyon’, which got it in 1805. The tools I used are a tracing board, pencil, marker, and colored pencils. I chose to put Mary under and the two angels above on the edges. Sadly, I have some difficulties with the part that needs shading. I colored the background blue, in the edges are darker from the middle to look like a frame for the phrase from the Bible, but it didn’t look as good as I thought. Therefore, I changed it to another idea. I used white paper and put some coffee on cotton and tapped it on the paper, and let it dry for two days. Then, I cut out Mary and the two angels and glued them to the new paper.
